Breaking bi-national film barriers
Arizona and Sonora, Mexico broke barriers this year with the first formalized bi-national film-commission partnership, according to a press release.
The partnership consists of the City of Tucson's Film Office and the Arizona-Sonora Film Commissions. The two entities joined efforts during production of the two-time Golden Globe-winning film "Traffic," featuring actors Michael Douglas, Benicio Del Toro and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The partnership is intended to encourage production companies to transcend the borders with ease to access logistical support and resources from both states.
The joint film commission was featured this past weekend during "Global Locations Expo," the Association of Film Commissioners' annual trade show targeting the feature-film industry. The exhibit took place in Santa Monica, Calif.
More than 300 film commissions from around the globe exhibited work at the show.
Hollywood Walk immortalizes Ozzy
Associated Press
Heavy-metal superstar Ozzy Osbourne, infamous for allegedly biting the heads off bats in his younger days, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday for his dark brand of showmanship.
Wearing a black suit, a large gold cross and round, blue glasses, with bright red streaks in his brown hair, Osbourne accepted the star with humility.
'To say that this is an honor is not enough," he said. "This is just so overwhelming, with all of you turning out so early in the morning to see my old butt."
The 53-year-old is enjoying renewed popularity with the MTV reality series "The Osbournes," which chronicles the singer's home life with his wife, Sharon, and two of their children - pink-haired Kelly, 17, and spiky-haired Jack, 16.
The crowd of nearly 1,000 shrieking fans was a sea of multicolored hair, pierced faces and tattoos. Some waved wrinkled posters of the singer or scrawled his name across their foreheads in black ink.
Fittingly, his star was placed in the sidewalk in front of Hollywood Boulevard's "Ripley's Believe It or Not" museum of oddities.
Kid Rock proposes to Pamela Anderson
Associated Press
Pamela Anderson can't seem to get enough of rockers - the former Mrs. Tommy Lee is now engaged to bad-boy musician Kid Rock.
The 34-year-old actress, star of the campy hit "V.I.P.," said "yes" when boyfriend Bob Ritchie - Kid Rock's real name - proposed Thursday night outdoors in the Las Vegas desert, her publicist Marleah Leslie said Friday. No wedding date was set.
"She's elated," Leslie said.
The 31-year-old rap-rock rebel gave her a ring but there were no details, the spokeswoman said. The couple began dating in April 2001, when they met backstage at VH1's diva salute to Aretha Franklin at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
It will be the second marriage for the former "Baywatch" star, who is locked in a nasty child-custody battle over sons Brandon and Dylan with Lee.
It will be the first marriage for Rock, who has a young son he raises with the help of his sister in northern Michigan.
Last month, Anderson claimed she had contracted the potentially fatal hepatitis C by sharing a tattoo needle with Lee. The former Motley CrŸe drummer insists, however, that he's never had the disease.
