Blimey! Come ye out and grab a pint of Guinness, for contemporary Irish poet Paul Muldoon will be here today at 10:30 a.m. for an informal Poetry Center Colloquium. Born in Portadown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, in 1951, Muldoon now works as a professor of poetry at Princeton University. For a taste of the Irish life, go to the Swede Johnson Building, Room 205, and catch the action. For more information, contact Frances Sjoberg at 626-3765, e-mail poetry@u.arizona.edu or visit the Web site at http://www.coh.arizona.edu/poetry.

After listening to Muldoon, head to the UA Mall and catch the 13th Annual Sounding of the Drums and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award ceremony. The festivities run from noon to 1 p.m. and feature drummers and speakers. The event is sponsored by African-American Student Affairs. For more information, contact Carlene Franklin at 621-5626.

Maybe you haven't had enough drums and poems for the day, so head to the Park Student Union for a snack or supper, because Invictus will be playing at "Eat to the Beat," sponsored by UABconcerts. The band begins jamming at 4 p.m. and will play until 8 p.m. at the stage area in the Union. For more information, contact J.J. at 621-5779.

Got a job? If not, Career Services can give you all you need to succeed. Head down to Old Main, Room 104, at 4 p.m. for an all-in-one workshop that covers resumŽ writing, interviewing skills and job search strategies. For more information, contact Career Services at 621-4517, e-mail a staff member at careerservices@arizona.edu or visit the Web site at http://career.arizona.edu/shared/onlineworkshop/index.asp?loc=students.

Being a college student can save you a dollar or two at some movie theaters. Student discounts are OK, but what is a couple dollars off a ticket that costs an arm and a leg? Use your real student discount and catch the free sneak preview of "Slackers!" featuring Devon Sawa. The show plays tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Social Sciences building, Room 100. For more information, contact Diana Ziegler at 621-0768, e-mail her at dziegler@u.arizona.edu or visit the Web site at http://www.union.arizona.edu/uab.

If comedy isn't your scene, check out the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration presentation of "Four Days in September" in the AME building, Room 202. The show and following discussion run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are free. For more information, contact Beretta E. Smith Shomade at 621-5899 or e-mail her at berettas@u.arizona.edu.
