Freshman flirts with world record pole vault

Glenn wins pair of events, qualifies in another

Amy Linnen had a feeling she would one day become the college record holder in the pole vault, but she had no idea it would come so soon.

In just her first season at Arizona, and only her second year as a pole vaulter, the freshman set the college indoor record of 14 feet 10 inches, Friday in the Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.

"I felt like I had it in me but I didn't think it would happen so soon," Linnen said. [Read article]

 

OLYMPICS UPDATE:

Yesterday, American snowboarders Ross Powers, Danny Kass and J.J. Thomas swept the men's snowboarding event to give the U.S. team its first Winter Olympics medal sweep in 46 years and bring the U.S. medal total to 6.
