Late yesterday afternoon Doug Hartz, president of the Associated Students for the University of Arizona met with Special Events Director Sarah Calvert and Speakers Board Director Chris Wie after hearing from a number of students who couldn't afford the $15 ticket price.
"There are students who got really excited about (the comedy night) when we told them about it and then they got disappointed when they found out the price," Calvert said. "ASUA had the capability to make it into a free show, so we decided that would be the best for everyone."
Any student who already bought a ticket can keep it and ASUA will refund the money.
For those students without a ticket, ASUA will give away the tickets first come, first serve beginning at 9 a.m. today. Tickets can be picked up in the ASUA offices on the third floor of the student union.
All non-students still have to pay $25 to see the show.
In addition, ASUA will provide a free shuttle to take students from the flagpole by Old Main to the Rialto. The shuttle service will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. before the show and then will shuttle students back after the show.
Andy Dick from "News Radio," The Second City, a comedy troupe from Chicago that feeds all talent to Saturday Night Live and UA's Charles Darwin Experience will perform.
