KUATöTV back up and running
KUAT-TV's Channel 6 transmitter went off the air over the weekend, following a telephone line outage that prevented station operators on the UA campus from broadcasting their signal Saturday.
The signal was manually restored around 7 a.m. Sunday when Michael Stanley, operator-manager of the Mount Lemmon Cooperative Water Co., went up to Mount Bigelow, where the transmitter is located.
The outage occurred between sign off on Friday and sign on Saturday morning, and station employees were not allowed to go to the site because of the Aspen Fire ÷ the cause of the telephone outage.
While the signal was down, only cable viewers in Tucson could access the station. Satellite and cable viewers outside of Tucson were not able to catch the signal.
