A UA employee called police Saturday after he found evidence of what he believed to be an attempted break-in of a lab in the Harshbarger/Mines building, 1133 E. North Campus Drive, reports stated.

The employee noticed that several tiles on a bathroom ceiling had been removed or disturbed. The bathroom lies adjacent to a lab, reports stated.

A shoeprint was discovered on a urinal in the bathroom, which led the employee to believe that someone was trying to gain entrance to the lab via the ceiling, reports stated.

The room contains over $1 million in equipment, reports stated.

Any attempt to gain access to the lab was unsuccessful due to a block wall that divides the two rooms and runs past the ceiling of the bathroom, reports stated.

No equipment was taken from the lab, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

A man stole two books worth more than $250 from a campus bookstore Thursday, reports stated.

According to reports, a bookstore employee at the Medical Book Store, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., recognized the man as a suspect from a previous theft that occurred in April.

The employee took the books from the man after he brought them up to the counter, then called security, reports stated.

The man then took the books back and left the bookstore, reports stated.

The employee followed the man out and asked him to stop and wait. The man replied, "I am waiting," as he continued to walk out the building, reports stated.

The employee followed the man and watched him walk toward an apartment complex on East Speedway Boulevard, reports stated.

A security guard responded to the scene and secured the surveillance tape, reports stated.

A man notified police after he found a bike for sale that resembled his bike that had been previously stolen on campus, reports stated.

According to reports, the man's bike was stolen outside the Gould-Simpson building, 1040 E. Fourth St., in May after he secured it with a U-lock in February.

The man found the bike near a friend's house, chained to a street post with a "for sale" sign attached, reports stated.

The man asked the individual selling the bike where he had gotten it, and the man said he had bought it from a kid in the neighborhood, reports stated.

The man could not claim the bike because he did not have proof of ownership, reports stated. He said he would search for a receipt and re-contact police.

A woman's bicycle was stolen from a bike rack outside Coconino Residence Hall, 1003 N. Olive Road, Thursday, reports stated.

The woman locked the bike around 7:30 a.m. and returned around noon to find the bike missing, reports stated.

The bike had an estimated value of $140, reports stated.

There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.

A construction worker hit another worker with a wooden plank after an argument at Herring Hall, 1130 E. South Campus Drive, on Friday, reports stated.

The suspect became upset after being told by another worker that the site supervisor needed his help, reports stated.

The suspect told the worker that he did not work for him and then picked up a wooden board and hit the man on his left shoulder, reports stated.

The suspect then threw down the board and punched the worker in the mouth and on the left side of his face, reports stated.

The worker, who showed visible signs of bruising on his shoulder and face, said that he did not wish to press charges, reports stated.

The suspect was asked to leave the site before police arrived, reports stated.

Police were called to the Harvill building, 1103 E. Second St, Thursday after several UA employees and students

reported a man who had been following women around the building, reports stated.

A female employee who teaches a class in the building said the heavy-set, balding white male was watching female students enter and exit a second-floor bathroom, reports stated.

When the employee confronted the man, he said he was walking around and not following the students, reports stated.

The man also told the employee he was a researcher of pornography and dating web sites, reports stated.

A male employee had already confronted the same man two days earlier after a female student returning from the bathroom said a man was following her, reports stated.

The employee tried to approach the man, but he left the scene, reports stated.

One student reported being followed by the same man at least three times before, reports stated.

According to another building employee, the man stands across the courtyard and watches the entrance to the bathroom, as the automatic door takes several seconds to close, reports stated.
