The Arizona volleyball team is one-for-one in payback matches and it will have an opportunity this weekend to make it two-for-two as it plays host to Washington and Washington State.

Last week, UA defeated Arizona State 3-0, a match that avenged a loss they had suffered earlier in the season to the Sun Devils.

Arizona dominated ASU and showed that it has improved greatly since the beginning of the season.

UA is hoping it can accomplish the same thing this weekend in McKale Center. Both matches start at 7 p.m.

"Every team in the Pac-10 is good," senior setter Laurie Gardner said. "We can't overlook any team. We just have to worry about us and play our game. It doesn't matter if we play Washington or Stanford, we just have to worry about playing our game."

Washington State defeated Arizona for the first time in four years earlier in the season, and the Wildcats are out for revenge.

Before the No. 14 Wildcats (11-7 overall, 6-4 Pacific 10 Conference) can worry about No. 17 WSU, Arizona is going to be tested against Washington, who swept No. 13 UCLA last weekend.

Washington (13-7, 5-6) took the Wildcats to five games in Seattle and head coach David Rubio said he expects a hard-fought match between two very athletic teams this evening.

"Washington is just like we are," Rubio said. "They are a young, athletic team that is improving every week. I expect the match to be tough from the start.'

WSU (15-6, 5-6 overall) comes in ranked No. 17, which marks the first time that both the Cougars and Wildcats will be ranked against one another since 1997.

Arizona's game plan is simple ÷ have a balanced offensive attack.

Freshman Kim Glass leads the team with 5.48 kills per game in Pac-10 play, but the real story has been the emergence of freshman Bre Ladd, who has added a middle attack that has been lacking from the Wildcat offensive arsenal.

Ladd's offensive contributions combined with Glass and senior outside hitters Lisa Rutledge and Shannon Torregrosa give Arizona a dynamic, balanced attack that can wreck havoc to opposing defenses.

With the offense beginning to come together like Rubio expected, Gardner said the Wildcats have set a goal this week and that is to run the table and go undefeated in their last eight Pac-10 matches.

"Our goal is to win the rest of our Pac-10 matches," Gardner said. "Every game starting against Washington is important. The race in the conference really close. We have been practicing really hard to prepare for this match."
