Trespassing

Four students were diverted to the Dean of Students on Wednesday, after police saw them on the diving platform at Hillenbrand Pool, 1824 E. Enke Dr., reports stated.

At about 2:20 a.m., police were conducting a check of Hillenbrand Pool, when an officer saw four students on the diving platform.

All four students said they had jumped the wall and knew that they were not supposed to be in the pool. The students all said they had never been diverted to the Dean of Students, and agreed to the diversion program rather than being arrested for trespassing, reports stated.

Attempted theft

A man tried to snatch a student's purse Tuesday, but dropped it as he ran away, reports stated.

At about 3 p.m., a student reported that while near the corner of North Park Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard, a man approached her, grabbed her bag and attempted to run away with it. The unknown man could not hold on to the bag, dropped it and continued to run south on North Park Avenue.

The student described the man as slightly overweight wearing blue jeans and a white shirt.

Police advised the student to call University of Arizona Police Department if she sees the man again. There are no suspects, reports stated.

Minors in possession

Officers assisted the Tucson Police Department with breaking up a party consisting of many underage drinkers Wednesday night, reports stated.

At about 11 p.m., police went to a residence at 1026 E. Hampton St., to assist TPD with a call about a party.

A TPD officer told UAPD police they had broken up a three hundred-person party that included a large number of underage drinkers, reports stated.

TPD found four kegs in the backyard of the residence and red plastic cups were found in the street and around the block. TPD requested UAPD assistance because the party consisted of fraternity house members and pledges, reports stated.

The residence was red-tagged to prevent future parties.

Attempted theft, resisting arrest, drug possession

A man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, second degree criminal trespassing, third degree burglary, resisting arrest, false reporting to law enforcement and having a TPD warrant for his arrest Tuesday, after he was caught trying to steal a car stereo, reports stated.

At 7:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person sitting in a car at the parking lot at 522 N. Tyndall Ave.

When police arrived, an employee pointed to a man walking east from a car. As police approached the man, a student pointed at him and said, "that man was just inside my car," reports stated.

Police parked the patrol car, got out, and asked the man to sit down. The man sat down, then got up, and ran southbound through the parking lot. Police ran after the man, when he eventually stopped and got on the ground at 415 N. Park Ave. Police searched the man and found a syringe in his pants pocket.

The 22 year-old man identified himself, and a records check showed he had a warrant for his arrest from the Tucson Police Department for failure to appear in court for a city code violation.

While police drove the man to Pima County Jail he told officers he had stolen a wallet from a Jeep parked on the northeast corner of North Vine Avenue and East First Street. He was taken to Pima County Jail and booked, reports stated.

Harassing phone calls

A man reported a student had left harassing phone messages that were sexual in nature at his residence, reports stated. At about 10:30 a.m., police met with the man who said he had received several harassing phone calls that were sexual in nature on his answering machine.

The man said the caller used his name and that he knows the man to be a UA student who used to date his daughter. His daughter broke up with the student, who now lives in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., reports stated. The man said he has also contacted the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Police advised the man that officers could call the student and ask him to stop making the calls before police have to get involved. The man said this would be fine.
