Threat to bring a gun into UA building
Someone called 9-1-1 Monday morning, threatened to bring a gun inside a UA building, then hung up, reports stated.
A University of Arizona Police Department employee picked up the phone and heard a voice whisper that he was going to bring a gun to the Social Sciences building, 1145 E. South Campus Dr., reports stated.
The caller did not say when or what day the weapon would be toted to the building.
Police searched the building and found nothing suspicious.
Officers traced the call to two locations, the Park Student Union, 615 N. Park Ave., and the Center for Computing and Information Technology, 1072 N. Highland Ave.
Police went to the Park Student Union and determined the call could have been made from a payphone inside the union.
A student was using the phone when police arrived. She denied calling 9-1-1 and said that she had just begun to use the phone.
Employees who work near the phone said they didn't see anyone using the phone at the time the call was made, but added that they don't usually watch that part of the union, reports stated.
Police informed the Social Sciences building monitor of the situation, and told him to report anything suspicious, reports stated.
There are no suspects or witnesses.
Trespassing in a bedroom
A student was arrested the morning after Halloween after he entered another student's residence hall room, reports stated.
A student told police that he was sleeping just after midnight in his Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall bed, 910 E. Fifth St., when another student entered.
The intruder, 19, started yelling that the student had no right to tell people to be quiet and turn the lights off. He also said that he was from Tucson and owned this place, the student told police.
The student got out of bed. He and the intruder began shoving each other. The student ripped the intruder's necklace and also cut his own hand during the altercation, reports stated.
After the intruder left, the student spoke to police and his roommates.
They told police that the student had requested that they be quiet after 10 p.m. and try to keep the lights off, reports stated.
The roommates said they told the intruder about the conversation. They believe he entered the room to address the situation, even though he didn't live with the student.
Police called the intruder and met with him Tuesday.
The intruder said the student tried to punch him, reports stated.
Officers arrested and released the intruder on suspicion of threats and intimidation, assault, criminal trespass in the first degree and disorderly conduct, reports stated.
Pro-bin Laden graffiti
A custodian found graffiti stating "long live Osama bin Laden," above a campus urinal, reports stated.
The custodian was in the Student Union Memorial Center bathroom, 1303 E. University Blvd., when he found the markings Monday. He wanted to report the incident because he wasn't sure if the building was safe, reports stated.
He believes the vandalism occurred between early Monday and Tuesday morning, reports stated.
Police photographed the graffiti.
There are no suspects and no witnesses.
Unsolicited phone calls
Somebody called a student and asked her what she was wearing Monday morning, reports stated.
The student received a phone call just before 8 a.m. in her residence hall room.
The caller said his name was Mike, and asked three times what the student was wearing. He also asked what time the student had class.
Police were unable to trace the call, but told the student to report any further calls that she felt were harassing.
There are no suspects and no witnesses at this time.
The student said she did not want to press charges if the caller was arrested.
