A vote for Salmon against principles for Libertarians
I appreciate Shane Dale's Nov. 4 column titled "Calling all Libertarians: We need your help," which was written "just for us Libertarians." I feel the need to explain to Dale why I did not vote for Matt Salmon in Tuesday's election.
Before every election, the voting public is lulled into believing that the country will be ruined over the course of the next two to four years, unless we vote for the "Republicrat," whose name is preceded by the correct letter. However, the voters who judge government policy based on a consistent set of principles can see that the overwhelming number of issues affecting our everyday lives are never even brought up in the "debates." While the Republicrats appear to argue about whether or not the words "under God" should appear in the Pledge of Allegiance, the necessary debate about the constitutionality of federally subsidized education is silenced. Other key freedom issues such as self-defense (i.e., gun rights), criminal procedure, land use and government licensing are not even subject to a vote, let alone brought up for discussion.

Congratulations Ms. Napolitano, with an asterisk
Congratulations, Janet.* At 6:04 p.m. last night, Attorney General Napolitano was declared the winner of Arizona's gubernatorial election by The Associated Press.
It would seem that she's pulled this one out. And while I didn't vote for her, I'll be among the first to congratulate Attorney General Napolitano on her victory. But that time may not have come just yet.
Election staffers say there are still around 220,000 ballots to be tabulated, and 180,000 of them come from Republican-stronghold Maricopa County.

Responsibility is ultimate form of gun control
This campus was shocked by the eruption of violence at the College of Nursing. Within hours, the rumbles began to be heard.
The volleys fired by advocates of stringent measures to remove firearms from American soil miss their mark.
Many of these well-intentioned activists argue that because guns are used to kill people, guns should be banished from Earth in order to protect the citizenry ÷ particularly children ÷ from meeting an early end. Bad people use guns to do bad things to good people ÷ and often to other bad people. Children shoot themselves or their friends, and they die.

Mourn your state America, for the corruption goes on
Oh crap. Get out your lederhosen, don your mincy little green caps with the feathers in them, cook up some brats and rancid cabbage, er · sauerkraut, and crank up the Wagner: We've got a lousy couple years ahead of us. (Note: Pardon the blatant bitterness and stereotyping of Germans. It was either this, Eurotrash techno-yutzes or the German guy from the great cinematic achievement "Supertroopers," so consider yourselves lucky.)
