Should LeBron play H.S. basketball?
If an 18-year-old white tennis player from Scottsdale was driving around in a Hummer would anyone care? Nope. The thing with LeBron is that people are jealous ÷ some just racist ÷ and really need to leave this kid alone. Yes, he is a kid and doesn't really know the difference between right and wrong yet. Sure, he probably knew that taking two throwbacks wouldn't be the greatest idea, but he also isn't going to turn them down. If King James was given a collection of Shakespeare's greatest books, he wouldn't have gotten suspended or even in trouble at all. But because he flaunted the gear, he got caught.
How well will UA football do?
All right, here's the deal. The football team can either go in two directions, get better or get slightly better. Luckily, it can't get much worse than it was last year. Nic Costa should have the job on opening day in 2003. He's buffed up and is ready to take over for the underrated Jason Johnson. Costa will bring energy and speed to the UA offense. Don't expect the recruits to make that big of an impact right away, Remember how long it's taken Mike Bell and Co. to do anything on the field. No Bobby, Lance, Jason, Makoa or Jarvie means no bowl game once again.
What event will you watch this weekend?
Not including the fact that I get paid to watch the UA öWashington State hoops game Saturday, I also will be playing in a little competitive sporting event of my own. It's a little game I like to call Disc Golf, and there is no better course in the country to play than in San Diego. I'm going to pack-up my discs ÷ putter, driver and all ÷ and spend an afternoon on the course getting some sun and throwing some discs. If you haven't played, don't waste your time trying to play in Tucson; the course here is awful. Make the trip to San Diego or Santa Barbara. It's flying-tastic.
Should LeBron play H.S. basketball?
LeBron is back, and it's the best thing that has happened to hoops. LeBron could have more money than God, but the only thing he cares about is getting back to play with his teammates. He took two gifts, gave them back and the court is giving him his well-deserved slap on the wrist. But come on, if he wasn't playing, what would ESPN do with itself? The kid will be picked number one and will make NBA veterans look like bums, but who doesn't want to see another 18-year-old throw down a windmill dunk over an NBAer who shouldn't even be shining LeBron's flip-flops?
How well will UA football do?
Turning a team around after an embarrassing season is as tough as trying to figure out how Jason Gardner pulls down the team high in rebounds, but with one of the top 30 recruiting classes, and fresh faces in important places, the Wildcats have a chance to show the Pac-10 its future. With southpaw Nic Costa having a year under his jockstrap, and the off-the-field controversy well behind the team, Arizona looks like it has nowhere else to go but up. Even with a solid future, it will be two years at least before this team makes a bowl run.
What event will you watch this weekend?
Since UA-Washington State will be as exciting as 8 a.m. class, I think I will have to fall victim of the NBA All-Star Game. With the NBA's talent show, you don't only get to see the best players in the league, but you get to see just how creative the players can be. Last year's dunk by Tracy McGrady not only made me fall on the ground and worship a la Wayne and Garth's "We're not worthy," but it also has me hooked for another year. I just pray that Kobe trips over Shaq's big toe, breaks his arm and both are gone for eternity.

Should LeBron play H.S. basketball?
Did LeBron James honestly believe those jerseys were a gift for academic excellence? If he is as smart as he tells us, you would think he'd know a little better than that. Regardless, this is another in a long line of tedious "witch-hunts" designed to bring down a budding star. Let's not forget as professional as he may seem on the court, he is still an 18-year-old kid. Let LeBron James enjoy winning while he still can, after all, next year he'll probably be mired in the dumps of Madison Square Garden starting for the lowly New York Knicks, or worse, in Cleveland.
How well will UA football do?
With a recruiting class ranked as high as 25th in some polls, things may be looking up for the Wildcats next season. A strong recruiting class after last year's fiasco of a football season still boggles the mind. Don't expect any immediate impacts however. Looking ahead to next year's schedule, wins may be few and far between for John Mackovic's crew. Arizona's out-of-conference games aren't the annual cakewalk that they traditionally have been. LSU, TCU, Oregon and Purdue all before the Pac-10 schedule starts promise to make for another long season here in Tucson.
What event will you watch this weekend?
I'm looking to former Wildcat sensation Richard Jefferson to highlight my sports weekend. Representing the Nets in the all-star slam dunk contest on Saturday, Jefferson will look to prove to the NBA critics that his rookie season was no fluke. Maybe this time Jefferson can clear those two cheerleaders on the first jump, without kicking one of them in the face. Better yet, maybe this year he can leap over former Wildcat teammate Gilbert Arenas and the loud mouth Bill Walton. I'm sure no one would mind if any one of those guys took a Nike to the face.
