UA hangs with Tucson Triple-A team in defeat
Tucson Sidewinders 8 ð Ua Baseball 5
It only took three pitches for the Arizona baseball team to take the lead against the Triple-A Tucson Sidewinders.
Unfortunately, the lead didn't last more than a half inning.
The Wildcats dropped an exhibition game against the Sidewinders 8-5 last night at Tucson Electric Park.
"It was a great night for us," head coach Andy Lopez said. "I wanted these guys to come here, have a good time and enjoy what they were doing."

ÎHale' to the new skipper
Former UA star takes Sidewinders' reins
It had been awhile since Chip Hale played on the same field as the Wildcat baseball team.
Hale, the former UA slugger-turned-manager of the Tucson Sidewinders, said he was excited yesterday to be facing the team he starred on from 1984-1987.
Last night's exhibition game between the Sidewinders and Wildcats at Tucson Electric Park marked the first game of the 2004 season for the Arizona Diamondbacks' Triple-A affiliate.

Ua Spring Football Notes: Quarterback competition too close to call
After two weeks of spring practice, the Arizona football team is no closer to naming a starting quarterback.
The soft deadline for having a depth chart, set for two weeks after practice began, has come and gone. But the Wildcat coaching staff has still not decided who will be its signal caller; instead, it has set a new date.
"We are going to wait until the final week on possibly determining a quarterback. We want to give them some more practice time and see where that takes us," head coach Mike Stoops said. "It has been hard for them to get into a groove, but someone has to separate himself."

Laxcats cap home slate with 18-1 romp
Last night's final home game of the season for the UA men's lacrosse team was more than an 18-1 victory over St. Mary's. It was a matter of principle.
"It was (about) pride," said junior defensive midfielder Bryan Cox, who scored two goals. "Last year, the defense played aggressively and was the heart and soul of the team. We wanted to get back to that."
With sticks up and flailing, Arizona's defense played the ball right into the hands of its offense. Laxcat attackman Greg Polheber led all scorers with three goals and four assists, while fellow attackman Adam Paris and midfielder Jeems Lochridge added three scores each for Arizona (11-3, 6-1 Western Collegiate Lacrosse League).
