Softball: No. 1 Cats head to Oregon
The No. 1 UA softball team takes its undefeated Pac-10 record on the road for the second weekend in a row against the Oregon schools, a pair of opponents that has been unintimidated by highly ranked teams this year.
Today at 2 p.m., the Wildcats (43-1, 7-0 Pacific 10 Conference) face No. 16 Oregon State (36-15, 2-7), which has already knocked off a No. 1 this season. On March 14, the Beavers beat then-No. 1 UCLA 3-2, causing the Bruins (29-6, 2-5) to fall to No. 2 while the UA took over the nation's top spot. The Wildcats have been there ever since.

Baseball opens 9-game road trip with 3 in Washington
For the Arizona baseball team, this weekend is the biggest of the season to date.
The Wildcats should get used to that; every series from here on out could hold that same label.
Arizona (21-15-1, 5-4 Pacific 10 Conference) starts a stretch of five Pac-10 series in the next six weeks today in Washington - and considering how tight the Pac-10 standings are right now, all of them could play a significant role in the Wildcat effort for a playoff bid.

Unsatisfied Laxcats set for playoff push
With its victory at ASU last weekend, the Arizona club lacrosse team put a stamp on its best regular season since going 16-5 two years ago. The Laxcats rebounded with double-digit wins this season after compiling a 9-8 record in 2003.
This team, however, is far from satisfied.
"We have to continue to work hard," sophomore attackman Greg Polheber said. "Hard work got us to this point, and we have to continue doing what we've been doing - winning games - and not change anything."

Staff Picks: NFL Draft
Who will be chosen No. 1?
Archie Manning is fast becoming the Richard Williams of football. What right does he have to tell the Chargers not to draft his son, Eli? Next thing you know, he'll be deciding which one of his sons should tank every game they play against each other, like the proud papa of Venus and Serena. The Chargers should take Eli with the No. 1; players don't decide the draft, and neither should their parents.
