Who will be chosen No. 1?

Archie Manning is fast becoming the Richard Williams of football. What right does he have to tell the Chargers not to draft his son, Eli? Next thing you know, he'll be deciding which one of his sons should tank every game they play against each other, like the proud papa of Venus and Serena. The Chargers should take Eli with the No. 1; players don't decide the draft, and neither should their parents.

Will Clarence Farmer be drafted at all?

I sure hope so. Then, maybe he'll send another letter to the sports desk, like the one he sent explaining why he was dismissed from the UA team by former coach Mike Hankwitz. According to that letter, his father says, "Life goes on!" And it does, Clarence - even in Canada, which is where you'll wind up. Send us a postcard when you win a Gray Cup.

seventh round, in CFL within two years

Who is the most overrated prospect?

Maurice Clarett, without a doubt. Does anybody understand why no less of an authority than the Supreme Court of the United States has to weigh in on the fate of a guy who would be a fourth-round pick at best? Thankfully, it seems the matter is decided, at least for now. It leaves the man with a name best suited for a pastry chef to go play in the most logical place: for the Montreal Alouettes. Maybe he can back up Clarence.

Who is the most underrated prospect?

Rashaun Woods has slipped lately in the draft, mostly because of one number: 4.7. Scouts keep saying that's slow for an NFL wideout, but it's roughly the same as ROY Anquan Boldin's combine time. The more telling Woods-related number is seven, the amount of TDs he had in one game last season. Or 82; he says if he can't have his college number in the pros, he won't pay somebody to get it. He'll spend it on fishing lures.

Who will be chosen No. 1?

The Chargers need to ask themselves: Are they ready to give up on Drew Brees? The third-year QB has thrown more interceptions (31) than touchdowns (29) in his brief career, but has completed nearly 60 percent of his passes. And Brees may not be the problem; besides Curtis Conway, name one receiver on the Chargers' squad. This is why they need to grab the best player in the draft - and it's not Eli.

Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Pittsburgh

Will Clarence Farmer be drafted at all?

The Arizona Cardinals will draft Farmer, the No. 21 running back on the board according to yahoo.com, with their final pick. He'll rush for 200 yards on 100 carries this season. The Cardinals will promptly waive him after the season. He'll be picked up by Tampa Bay, where he'll rush for 1,500 yards and lead the Bucs to a Super Bowl.

Yes.

Who is the most overrated prospect?

The "soldier" will cause problems for whoever picks him up. Not Lawrence Phillips problems; more like Jeff George problems. Kellen Winslow Jr. has a poor attitude. He'll be a good tight end, and his ability isn't in question. But once he starts complaining that he isn't getting the ball enough, look out. The guy's more trouble than he's worth.

Kellen Winslow Jr., TE, Miami (Fla.)

Who is the most underrated prospect?

I wonder what ESPN does with Mel Kiper Jr. the other 11 months of the year. Do they keep him frozen in a vault somewhere? That would explain his hair. Regardless, Kiper is definitely the most renowned draft guru of them all. And if he says NAU's Clarence Moore is worthy of a mid-range pick or higher, I'll take his word for it.

Who will be chosen No. 1?

It's nice to see that my superiors on this page are still stuck in the world of T-ball, AYSO soccer and Pop Warner football. "Players don't decide the draft, and neither should their parents," St. Germain says. Awww, how nice. Are you bringing the orange slices and CapriSuns for halftime, or am I? Get real. This is the NFL. Ever seen "Playmakers"? So did the NFL. That's why it's off the air. The Mannings are trying to be the league's version of "The Sopranos," and what Tony - err, Archie - says, goes.

Sorry, San Diego. Eli goes No. 1 - to the Giants.

Will Clarence Farmer be drafted at all?

Come on, now. How many rounds is the NFL draft now, anyway? C-Farm will still be sitting at home in Houston Wednesday night watching some guy nobody's ever heard of call out his name - because Paul Tagliabue has way better things to do than deal with day 6 of the 57 round NFL draft. Really though, chances are he gets picked by the Patriots or some other team that has a shot at a Super Bowl. Justice is served if Farmer somehow gets a ring out of this deal.

Somewhere, anywhere, but yes.

Who is the most overrated prospect?

Maurice takes the cake here, and he probably ate it all too. Did y'all see the kid balloon to three bills during his time time away from Columbus? Nagging injuries kept him from playing a full 12 games as a freshman at Ohio State. What makes anyone think he's going do amount to anything but headaches during a 16-game schedule? As for that academic thing, Andy "i can't spell my own last name" Katzenmoyer managed to "get by" at OSU, and Mo-Mo couldn't do it? Wow.

Mo "Potatoes, Please" Clarett

Who is the most underrated prospect?

Steven Jackson is projected to go to the Pro Bowl tailback factory known as the Broncos by many more than just Mel "Hey, you! Look at my hair!" Kiper, Jr. Mel Kiper, Sr., whoever he is, wherever he is, probably has Jackson going too. Which is why perhaps the NCAA's best running back a year ago is goign to be the NFL's best - a la Clinton Portis - by the end of his second season, without a doubt. For any other team, he might be lucky to break 1,000 yards. For Denver, he's just money.

Steven Jackson, RB, Oregon State
