photo Game Preview: Cats face Purdue for first time

Beleaguered Wildcats have Îsomething to prove' on road trip

With all the Wildcats have been through in three long weeks, a road trip could be a positive thing.

Arizona takes its first road trip of the 2003 season when it takes on No. 25 Purdue in a non-conference game in West Lafayette, Ind. tomorrow at 10 a.m.

A capacity crowd is expected at Ross-Ade Stadium for the first meeting between the two schools. Over the last week, head coach John Mackovic has been under some heat and a change of scenery could do him and his team some good. [Read article]

The Purdue football team knows as well as anyone what a difference two weeks makes.

Going into this season, expectations surrounding the team were as high as ever, including the 2000 Rose Bowl season.

But after getting upset by Bowling Green at home, the No. 25 Boilers (1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) heard talk of how another loss would ruin a promising season before it really got started.

Soccer to battle 'other' Wildcats

The Arizona soccer team heads back home to play its first home matches in nearly three weeks, opening a two-game set tonight.

The Wildcats (2-3-0) will play host to Kentucky at 7 p.m. at Murphey Stadium. Kentucky (2-3-1) suffered two home losses last weekend ÷ to a ranked Brigham Young team and to Rutgers ÷ both by 2-1 margins.

"We're excited to be able to play an opponent of that caliber," Arizona head coach Dan Tobias said. "They're a real well-coached team. (Head coach) Ian Collins has been there quite a while." [Read article]

Wildcats take on Huskies after falling to Washington State

Tonight, No. 16 Arizona (6-5, 0-1 Pacific 10 Conference) goes to Seattle, seeking to rebound against the No. 14 Huskies (10-0, 1-0) after falling to Washington State, 3-1 (32-30, 30-27, 25-30, 36-34). [Read article]
