A student walked up to a man who had just broken into his car in a UA parking lot on Wednesday, reports stated.

The student was walking to his car at 5:27 p.m. when he noticed a red Pontiac Bonneville parked next to it. A man was standing next to the driver-side back window next to a pile of broken glass, reports stated.

The student asked the man what happened, and the man got into the Bonneville and drove off. When the student got to his car, he noticed that the back half-window of his car had been smashed out. There was nothing taken from the car, reports stated.

Police could not find any prints on the vehicle and there was no other evidence, reports stated.

The suspect was later seen at a parking lot at 4044 E. Speedway Blvd., reports stated.


A UA student called police after stereo equipment and CDs were stolen from his truck on Wednesday, reports stated.

The student parked his pickup truck in a parking lot on North Mountain Avenue and East Prince Road at 2 p.m. When he returned four hours later, he saw that his driver-side window was smashed in. When he looked inside, he saw that his Alpine sub woofer, amplifier, car stereo and CDs were missing, reports stated.

The student estimated the value of the stolen items at $1,750, reports stated.

Police were unable to find any fingerprints on the vehicle and have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A student called UAPD after he saw somebody riding off with his bike on Wednesday, reports stated.

The student had locked his bike near the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., around 3 p.m., and when he returned 40 minutes later, he noticed his bike was gone, reports stated.

He saw a man riding what he thought to be his bike away from the area. The man was carrying a cable lock as he was riding, reports stated.

The student described the man as a black male between 30 to 40 years old. He was wearing a red baseball cap, a denim shirt and khaki pants, reports stated.


A student reported her parking permit stolen after she left her window slightly open on Sept. 17, reports stated.

The student parked her car behind Babcock Residence Hall, 1717 E. Speedway Blvd., at 8 p.m. on Sept. 17 and when she returned the next day at 7:45 a.m., the parking permit was gone, reports stated.

She had left her driver-side window slightly open. Police found no evidence of forced entry and have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


UAPD was called after two students reported that their Ford Rangers were broken into on Sept. 15, reports stated.

The students parked their trucks next to each other behind the Chi Phi Fraternity house, 1104 E. Seventh St., on Sept. 14. When they returned the next morning, one noticed that the back slide window was open. When he looked inside his truck, he noticed that his stereo had been stolen, reports stated.

The other student also saw that his back slide window was open. He saw that his CDs case was stolen.

There was a screwdriver found in one truck and a ring of keys found in another.

Police were unable to find any usable fingerprints. The screwdriver and keys were placed into evidence, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A UA employee reported that his golf cart had been stolen after he parked it at the Harvill building, 1103 E. Second St., on Sept. 15, reports stated.

The golf cart was recovered later in the day by the employee's brother in the Physics and Atmospheric Sciences building, 1118 E. Fourth St., with the engine still running yet no key in the ignition, reports stated.

The employee believed that the golf cart was "hot-wired," reports stated.

Police suggested to the employee that he have a kill switch installed on the golf cart to prevent further hot wires, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witness to the theft.


A student called UAPD after she noticed that her bike was stolen on Sept. 15, reports stated.

The student locked her red bike at a rack at the Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., on Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. When she returned at 8:40 a.m., she saw that it was missing, reports stated.

Her cable lock was stolen along with the bike, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.
