A resident assistant from Pima Residence Hall, 1340 E. First St., called UAPD after he smelled burnt marijuana coming from a student's room on Sunday, reports stated.

The responding officer also smelled burnt marijuana and knocked on the door. The resident opened the door and allowed the officer to come in, reports stated.

There were two other students in the room. The officer spoke to each of them individually, and two of the students denied smoking marijuana. The other student admitted that she and the other two had been smoking in the room, reports stated.

The officer was allowed to search the room and found a multi-colored glass pipe with marijuana residue in the bowl. The pipe was stashed under a pile of clothes near where two of the students had been sitting, reports stated.

The officer also found a tin "Zig-Zag" container with marijuana inside, reports stated.

One student was cited and released on a possession of marijuana charge.

The man said, "I thought I would take the cans and cash them in." The officer confirmed that there were aluminum cans inside the container, reports stated.

The man admitted that he had taken the dumpster from the Student Union Memorial Center, 1501 E. Speedway Blvd. He said he was pushing the dumpster to a location "somewhere on 36th Street, but could not give an exact location, reports stated.

Five UA students were arrested on minor in possession charges after they were seen driving in an SUV filled with passengers on Saturday, reports stated.

An officer driving near the East Sixth Street and North Stone Avenue intersection saw a silver, 1998 Toyota 4-Runner packed with people in the back cargo area. He stopped the driver of the SUV because he was driving with an obstructed view, reports stated.

When the officer was speaking to the driver, he smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the passengers. The driver said that he was the designated driver and that all the passengers were drunk, reports stated.

The officer asked the passengers to get out of the car. There were two in the front seat, two in the back seat and two in the rear cargo area, reports stated.

Five of the students were charged with minor in possession. One of the students refused to sign his citation, so the officer handcuffed him and placed him in his patrol car. After a short time, the student changed his mind and agreed to sign the citation, reports stated.

Two of the students were 21 years old and were not cited. The driver, after it was determined that he had not been drinking, was given a citation for driving with an obstructed view, reports stated.

A student called UAPD Saturday after he realized that somebody had stolen his driver's license and checks from his room in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., reports stated.

The student had checked his account balance the day before and noticed that checks for $510 and $150 had been written without his knowledge. When he looked in his room, he noticed that his driver's license was also missing. He also saw that there were two other checks torn out of his checkbook, reports stated.

The student's roommate had told him earlier in the week that he had noticed some unauthorized activity on his credit card. The roommate was not available to speak to police but had told the student that he had lost his keys earlier in the week.

While speaking to the officer, the student speculated that somebody had entered his room with the missing keys, had stolen his checks and driver's license and had written down his roommate's credit card number, reports stated.

Police have no witnesses or suspects at this time, reports stated.
