A UA student and his friend were cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the Coronado Residence Hall on Aug. 23 at 10:53 p.m., reports stated.

Two Resident Assistants called UAPD when they smelled what they believed to be marijuana coming from a resident's room. One RA waited outside the room while the other called UAPD, reports stated.

When the UAPD officer arrived, he knocked on the resident's door. The student, who only had a towel around his waist, cracked the door open enough to allow the officer to see another man in the room, reports stated.

The officer smelled what he believed to be marijuana and entered the room. He asked the student why he thought he was there, and he replied that he did not know. After further questioning, the student admitted that he and his out-of-state friend had been smoking marijuana, reports stated.

The officer then asked where the marijuana was stored and the student pointed to the closet. Inside the closet was a bag full of a green leafy substance and a multi-colored glass pipe with black residue, reports stated.

The officer cited both men with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The student was deferred to the Dean of Student Diversion program, reports stated.
