After registering just 11 kills Thursday, Arizona sophomore Kim Glass wasn't happy with her performance against Oregon.

The outside hitter decided to get even the following night against Oregon State.

Glass led the Wildcats (9-10, 3-6 Pacific 10 Conference) to a straight-set win over the visiting Beavers (12-9, 2-7) on Friday by posting a school-record 30 kills, breaking the three-game mark she set last year in the first round of the NCAA tournament, when she had 28 kills against Texas-Arlington.

Glass' 30 kills, which came on a blistering .415 hitting percentage, came after she had 11 kills against Oregon Thursday night ÷ the first time this season she hadn't led the Wildcats in kills.

"I was incredibly dismayed in my performance, but I had to get over it," Glass said. "I said I was going to play better (Friday) than I did (against Oregon). I got over it afterward and came out ready to play."

With her performance, which also included a match-high 14 digs and just eight errors, Glass moved into a tie for second on the career 20-plus-kill match list with 24.

On top of Glass' dominant effort, the team saw solid performances from hitter Jennifer Abernathy, who registered 11 kills and two service aces, and middle blocker Bre Ladd, who tallied nine kills and a .353 hitting percentage. Junior middle blocker Jolene Killough hit .333 for the match, while senior setter Kelly Griffin-Halfaker added 49 assists.

"It was great how we spread the offense around tonight. It wasn't just Kim all the time," Glass said. "That was awesome because Bre, Jolene and Jen were putting balls down on like the 5-foot line, so that was exciting to see."

UA head coach Dave Rubio said the Wildcats played a steady match, winning 30-24, 30-28 and 30-27 against the Beavers.

Rubio was also happy with Abernathy's play. He said she adds a lot to the team when she is on her game and is excited at the prospects of Glass and Abernathy playing well.

"Both she and Kim are still infants when it comes to playing their position," he said. "You figure they're only sophomores, and yet they've still got a lot of room to grow. By the time they're finished playing, in my mind, they will be hopefully two of the best left-side hitters in the country."

The Wildcats took on Hawaii last night in Honolulu, Hawaii, but results were not available at press time. A complete recap will be available in tomorrow's Wildcat.

Arizona will next hit the court when it plays host to rival Arizona State (8-10, 3-6) Saturday in McKale Center.
