Baton-twirling nursing senior, never hurt herself, but gave someone a black eye once with it
Wildcat: Hi, my name's Nathan and you're On the Spot.
Costolo: I'm Megan.
Wildcat: You're holding a baton.
Costolo: Yes, I'm a baton twirler.
Wildcat: So do you play at all the games?
Costolo: Yes.
Wildcat: Are you ever afraid of like, just throwing it up in the air, and looking up, and it hitting your eyeball or something? Like landing on your eyeball?
Costolo: No. That doesn't happen often. We aim pretty well.
Wildcat: Did it ever hit you in the head or anything?
Costolo: When I was younger · when I was learning. I gave someone a black eye once with it.
Wildcat: Ouch. When I was in high school, I was in marching band. And do you know those flag people? They would get really close ÷ I played saxophone for marching band ÷ a few times they almost just whacked me, twirling their flags.
Costolo: Why aren't you in band here? You should be in playing here.
Wildcat: I don't know. I like my Saturdays free.
Costolo: Yeah, I know.
Wildcat: Is there an official name for you guys?
Costolo: We're just the UA twirling line.
Wildcat: OK. So, you guys are just "baton twirlers" or "twirlers."
Costolo: Twirlers. Baton twirlers is like, old school.
Wildcat: It's old school?
Costolo: Like, majorettes.
Wildcat: Is that Î80s?
Costolo: Yeah.
Wildcat: OK. So in 2003, it's "twirlers."
Costolo: Yeah. Exactly.
