UA undergraduate named 'Secretary-General' of Model UN
Ben Zuniga, a UA undergraduate student majoring in geography and Italian with a double minor in geographic information systems and molecular/cellular biology, has been selected as the secretary-general for the 2004 United Nations Association of the United States of America Model United Nations Conference, which is taking place in New York City this coming Spring.
Zuniga will supervise eight Senior Secretariat members, along with 78 other staff members in the Secretariat. The event will draw 1,500 student delegates from around the world. Zuniga will speak at the opening and closing ceremonies before approximately 6,000 people. One of his speeches will be on the AIDS program in Africa; a second speech topic is still being planned.
KUAT-TV presents mayoral forum today on ÎArizona Illustrated'
KUAT-TV will present a forum featuring all three of Tucson's mayoral candidates today on "Arizona Illustrated."
The forum will be shown on a special one-hour edition of the newsmagazine. It airs live from the KUAT studio and repeats at midnight.
The show's anchor and managing editor, Bill Buckmaster, will moderate the forum. Incumbent mayor Bob Walkup (R) and challengers Tom Volgy (D) and Kimberly Swanson (L) are all expected to participate.
Third-annual UA directory recycling drive in process
The University of Arizona is holding the third annual UA Student/Faculty/Staff Directory Recycling Program Thursday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Nov. 14. The Facilities Management Recycling and Waste Management Program sponsor the annual event.
The new directories are currently being delivered. Custodians will hang signs directing you where to stack the outgoing directories for recycling. Recycling Office staff will remove them. If you do not see signs in your building, call Recycling and Waste Management at 624-3068 or e-mail recycling@fm.arizona.edu. Yellow pages and white pages may be recycled along with UA directories.
