photo Former UA dropout donates $10 million

A 1962 UA dropout who finally completed his agriculture education degree in 2000 now has a building named after him.

Thomas W. Keating, a UA and Kappa Sigma alumnus, was revealed at Friday's groundbreaking ceremony as the secret $10 million donor for the Institute for Biomedical Science and Biotechnology.

Keating, who started at the university in 1960 and dropped out two years later to take over his family's security guard business, only to return decades later to complete his degree, smiled as President Peter Likins announced that the building would now be called the Thomas W. Keating BioResearch Building. [Read article]

photo ÎFandemonium' follows victory

The UA football team may not have a chance to play in the Rose Bowl ÷ or any bowl game, for that matter ÷ and can't finish its season with a winning record.

But none of that mattered after Saturday's Homecoming victory over the Washington Huskies.

Hoards of fans stormed the gates and poured onto the Arizona Stadium turf during the waning moments of the Wildcats' second win of the year, a 27-22 upset win that sophomore running back Mike Bell called the best he's ever been a part of. [Read article]

photo Small turnout, big fans at 'American Idol' jam

The UA got a taste of reality television talent Friday night when two contestants from last season's "American Idol" performed a free concert at Centennial Hall.

About 500 people attended the concert, filling only about 20 percent of the 2,456 seats, but the small turnout didn't seem to bother anyone.

"That was amazing, to be on stage again" said former "Idol" contestant Kimberly Locke after the show. "It's very good to see my fans out there supporting me." [Read article]
