The last time Arizona football beat Washington in Tucson, it was Homecoming 1992 ÷ and the Huskies came into the game ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The Wildcats went on to knock off the Huskies, 16-3 in front of a full Arizona Stadium, with fans celebrating on the field after the upset.

Though the stakes weren't as high, the scene was similar Saturday night after the Wildcats upset Washington 27-22 at Arizona Stadium. [Read article]

photo Football Analysis: Bell takes toll on Washington with 222-yard outburst

UA athletics director Jim Livengood has been plagued by many emotions this football season: regret, disappointment and most of all, defeat.

Soccer splits last matches

The UA soccer team ended its season in Washington this weekend with a split, beating Washington State, 2-1 on Friday and falling to Washington, 3-0 yesterday.

Although the Wildcats (6-11-2, 2-6-1 Pacific 10 Conference) were outshot by the Cougars (6-10-2, 2-4-2), 19-14 Friday, Arizona junior forward Candice Wilks proved to be the difference.

Wilks scored her first goal at 37:32 when freshman and fellow forward Lauren Winters fed her the ball from the left side. It was the seventh goal of the season for Wilks, and it gave the Wildcats a 1-0 edge at halftime. [Read article]

Icecats earn spilt at Navy with OT win

Despite earning a star of the game distinction last week in a rare start, Rick Karasch didn't exactly expect to start in goal in the final game of the UA Icecats' first road trip.

He reacted by turning in unexpected performance.

No. 11 Arizona (5-1-1) earned a split with Navy (4-10-0) with a 2-0 win on Saturday, after losing to the Midshipmen 1-0 on Friday. Karasch, a junior, had 27 saves.
