Polkey named one of nation's top-five centers

UA women's basketball player Shawntinice Polk was named a "Top Five Center" by ESPN.com Friday.

A sophomore, Polk is the only non-senior to make the list, which includes Tera Bjorklund of Colorado, Nicole Ohlde of Kansas State, Stacy Stephens of Texas and Christi Thomas of Georgia.

Polk has already been showered with a host of preseason accolades. She has been named a preseason All-American by Street & Smith's, Athlon Sports and Women's Basketball News Service. She has also been named to the list of top 30 preseason candidates for the John R. Wooden Women's Award, and is a preseason candidate for the Wade Trophy.

Polk was also named to the five-member Preseason All-Pac-10 Team.
