The Arizona women's golf team shot at even-par yesterday to finish the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe in fourth place on the event's final day.

The Wildcats finished 21 strokes behind champion ASU. The Sun Devils and UCLA ended tied in the three-day event, but the title was given to the Sun Devils in a tie-breaker.

"We got off to a good start today," said Arizona head coach Greg Allen. "Just like I've said before, we feel like when all the girls play well, we are successful. This is great momentum going into the Pac-10 Championships."

Junior Cassandra Kirkland finished tied for 16th to lead Arizona and finished in a tournament's top 25 for the fifth time this year.

Junior Lani Elston also finished in the top 25, placing 20th.

Junior Whitney Welch was the next Wildcat finisher, ending tied for 28th, followed by senior Miriam Kraschinski, who placed 34th.

Arizona ended the tournament behind ASU, UCLA and Pepperdine, with Cal holding down the fifth spot.

The PING/ASU Invitational was the Wildcats' last competition before the Pac-10 Championships April 18-20 in Pleasanton, Calif.
