Approximately 1,000 stuffed dogs have been hidden on campus to help promote Victoria's Secret's "Pink," a new clothing line of bras, panties and sleepwear for college-aged women.
Any UA student who finds one of the pink and white dogs with a tag around its neck can take it to Victoria's Secret in the Tucson Mall to receive a prize and be entered into a contest to win a Vespa motor scooter.
The dog hunt begins today and lasts until Friday.
"They will be all very easy to find," said UA marketing senior Anna Suarez. "You won't have to climb a tree to get one."
Suarez is one of several college students chosen to be a representative of Team Pink, a nationwide group of college women selected to promote Victoria's Secret's Pink clothing line.
"I am the ambassador for the line here at the UA. I am strictly just a campus rep, I don't work for Victoria's Secret," Suarez said.
In July, Suarez, along with other students from various U.S. universities, trained in New York City to become campus representatives.
"We've selected Team Pink reps on nearly 20 major campuses across the country," said Sara Tervo, for Victoria's Secret public relations.
Some of those universities include Arizona State University, the University of California in Los Angeles, Ohio State University and Pennsylvania State University.
One Vespa scooter will be raffled at each university.
Suarez said the universities are selected for various reasons, such as having a really high concentration of women.
"One of the reasons I think they picked U of A is because everyone's always outside," she said.
In addition to the dogs, Suarez said other "Pink girls" will hand out fliers on campus which can also be redeemed for a free gift at Victoria's Secret.
Because the promotion runs until Oct. 24, redeemable gifts vary depending on when students visit the store, Suarez said.
The nationwide drawing for the Vespas, which are white with pink polka dots, will be Nov. 4, Suarez said.
Sasha Cardin, an undecided freshman, said she is thrilled about the contest.
"I think it's awesome, because first, I love Victoria's Secret and second, I think it will be fun to find these dogs on campus and get something for it," she said.
Cardin said the idea of winning the Vespa is appealing because, "I hate walking."
Some male students like Kirk Stauff, a liberal arts senior, also find the Vespa offer appealing, despite the color scheme.
"I think that it's interesting that private enterprises are interested in corresponding with university students," he said. "I don't know if I think it's a good idea."
