Men's Hoops: Cats try to rebound in NIT semis
Getting clobbered 78-60 by unranked Virginia wasn't the greatest way for the Arizona men's basketball team to begin its season away from McKale Center, but the No. 17 Wildcats (2-1) will get an immediate chance to redeem themselves in the preseason NIT tonight, starting with a semifinal matchup against the Michigan Wolverines at 7 p.m. MST in New York.
Michigan (3-0) is led by junior guard Daniel Horton, sophomore guard Dion Harris, and junior wing Lester Abram on the perimeter, and sophomore Center Courtney Sims down low.

Football: B.J. Dennard goes against grain
Freshman defies family ties to become a Wilddat
As Arizona (2-8) prepares to battle archrival Arizona State (8-2) in the annual Duel in the Desert, the Wildcat football team can be grateful that UA freshman receiver/cornerback B.J. Dennard knows where his loyalties lie.
Coming out of high school, Dennard had an easy choice of which college he was going to continue his football career.
Dennard's dad, Glen, had lettered at receiver at Arizona State in 1984-'85.

Women's hoops out to disprove road rap
It's no secret that the No. 25 Arizona's women's basketball team (2-1) just isn't the same on the road.
Last season, the Wildcats were 24-9 overall but managed to record only seven wins against six losses when playing outside of McKale Center.
Although the 2004-05 season is still young, history may be repeating itself as the team recorded its first road loss last Wednesday in which then-No. 10 Ohio State dominated Arizona, 78-45, in the semifinals of the Women's National Invitational Tournament.

Opponent Analysis: ASU's Walter waltzes toward NFL payday
Arizona State quarterback Andrew Walter turned down a chance to play in the NFL last season to return to a 5-7 team with many question marks.
The fifth-year senior didn't know what the future would bring, but the Sun Devils have rewarded his loyalty to the program with a No. 18 ranking, the team's best record since 1997 and a place in the Pacific 10 Conference record books.
ASU (8-2, 5-2) will play in its second bowl game in the last three years and much of the Sun Devils' success has been because of their three-year captain.
