After receiving phone calls from angry parents, prof tells class he didn't mean to offend

An anthropology professor addressed his class about statement he made Nov. 9, after a few students' parents called and complained about a reference to evolution he made in a lecture.

Professor J. Jefferson Reid shared a paragraph of a column from The New York Times that ran in the Arizona Daily Star Nov. 7, which discussed the belief in evolution and the belief in the virgin birth in his Anthropology 205: "Clovis to Coronado" gen ed class, he said. [Read article]

No. 15 Miss. State on tap for Cats at Anaheim event

The Arizona men's basketball team's tough non-conference schedule will continue Sunday as the Wildcats travel to Anaheim, Calif., to take on the No. 15 Mississippi State Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. MST in the John R. Wooden Classic.

After showing signs of breaking out of its shooting slump last time out against Wyoming by scoring a season-high 98 points, No. 21 Arizona will slug it out with a defensive-minded Mississippi State team (5-1) that has yet to allow more than 71 points in a game this season. [Read article]

Thefacebook is a Web site that hosts categories of different universities across the United States and allows for students at each school to set up a personal profile. Once a student signs up and sets up his profile, he can browse through the profiles of other students and make the life-or-death decision of adding them as a "friend." [Read article]

To the naked eye, Ryan Michael Parker is just another student artist. But once you see his artwork, you'll realize he'll hold his own in the professional art world once he graduates from the UA next May.

Parker, a visual communications senior with a focus on illustration, really wants folks to come to his latest exhibit. He wants it so badly that he's turned himself into a walking billboard, wearing a mechanic's suit for weeks with a sticker nametag which reads, " HELLO, I'M: FROM THE COLLECTION AGENCY. NOW GET OFF MY COUCH." [ Read article]
