Track teams to face in-state rivals in Flagstaff

The UA track and field teams will travel to Flagstaff today to take part in an annual tradition - an in-state dual meet against Arizona State and Northern Arizona.

The meet - which starts today at 5 p.m. at the Walkup Skydome on campus at NAU - will serve as a preview of sorts for the Wildcats, who will return to Flagstaff next weekend to host the MPSF Championships. Next weekend's meet was supposed to be held in Long Beach, Calif., before being forced to move to Flagstaff due to a lack of funding.

Two Wildcats - senior Mike Kenyon and junior Brianna Glenn - will try to follow up outstanding performances from last weekend.

Kenyon, a transfer student from Sacramento State, set a school record last week at the Cannon IV Classic in Indianapolis, clocking a time of 47.16 in the 400-meter dash.

Glenn, also in Indianapolis last weekend, set a school record with a long jump of 20 feet, 10 3/4 inches.
