The Arizona men's rugby team will take its undefeated record on the road this weekend to California.
While the 6-0 Wildcats have outscored their opponents 151-81 so far this season, coach Dave Sitton said his team has room to improve.
"We have many issues that need to be addressed," Sitton said.
In the past two home games, the Wildcats have struggled offensively and have relied on big plays and individual runs to reach the tri-zone.
"Turnovers are really hurting us," Sitton said about his lack of offensive output.
In their last game against UCSD, the Wildcats managed only 10 points in 60 minutes of play. While UA was at times unable to put together solid drives, they responded to score 14 points in five minutes to put the Tritons away.
"The defense won the game," junior Pat Marek said. "Offensively, we made mistakes."
Defensively, Sitton said the Wildcats played well last weekend, allowing only 15 points during their two-game homestand, which included a shutout of UCSD.
Despite being pushed to the goal line numerous times, the Tritons were turned away empty handed, which allowed the stalled UA offense time to get moving.
Sitton said the road trip to San Louis Obispo and Santa Barbara is a key series for UA.
"This will be a tough trip," he said. "We need a sweep."
Senior Jonathan Gray is confident the Cats will increase their offensive output and back it up with solid defensive play, not only on this road trip but throughout the conference season.
"We can go undefeated through the season," Gray said.
The ruggers take on Cal Poly this afternoon and UC-Santa Barbara Sunday.
