Last week's "tests" against Oregon and Oregon State make this weekend's contests against third-ranked Washington and No. 1 UCLAlook like the bar exam.
Taking into account the caliber of its opponents, not to mention the circumstances under which the games will be played, it can be said that this weekend is a scheduling gauntlet for the Arizona softball team. This series of games could set the table for how the team performs throughout the rest of the season.

The No. 3 Huskies, well-rested and accustomed to rain, are up to the challenge of facing the No. 2 Wildcats. The Huskies, despite offensive struggles last weekend, have hammered 50 homers in their first 37 games. As impressive as that is, Arizona has knocked four more in the same amount of games.
No. 6 Cal and Stanford each managed to blank UW last weekend, but the Huskies turned things around and shutdown the Cardinal, 6-0.

UCLA, the nation's number one team according to the writers at ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25, defends all 18 first place votes against the Wildcats. Bruin Keira Goerl threw her first no-hitter of the season after allowing just one hit each in 12 previous games, landing her the National Player of the Week.
Goerl is on the U.S. World Championship Team and she'll likely battle UA freshman Alicia Hollowell. The UA freshman has given 218 batters a reason to cry at night, more than last years Honda Player of the Year Jennie Finch did at this point in her career.

It's dŽjˆ vu as Easton Stadium has become the Fiesta Bowl of college softball again. Arizona head coach Mike Candrea has religiously stated that he and his team do not care about rankings, minus the final one, but it may be hard to ignore this weekend. The Pac-10 schedule shows no mercy. Pac-10 Player of the Week, Arizona's own Lovie Jung will be swinging to repeat last week's .750 avg., 5 runs, 6 hits, 2 HRs and 3 RBI performance.
