Going wild never felt so darn good

Welcome to Tucson, the land where bands are few and your classes are far between.

To all of you who have been loyal Wildcat readers this is going to be something new to you, and for those of you who are new, this will be something you get to start with us.

This year we are trying something different ÷ hopefully something the entire campus can read and have fun with. The new section, as you have probably guessed by now, is titled GoWild. I am hoping to focus this section on getting more interviews with up-and-coming bands, celebrities and artists. I want GoWild to be your guide to help you decide what to do with your weekend and what movies you want to watch and ÷ of course ÷ steer clear of.

Be on the lookout for more movie, CD and game reviews. Also, when there are a lot of bands in town, we will try to talk to as many of them as possible in a new section for quick question-and-answer sessions. As for our readers who are more interested in art gallery openings and poetry readings, check out our calendar section, which is being revised and updated to include more of those types of events.

As far as nightlife goes, we are looking to focus some of our section on the racier and fun aspects of Tucson's nightclubs. And yes, bands actually do come to Tucson ÷ contrary to what you might have heard. But this is a laid back town, and promoters are scared to bring some of their acts here because people do not purchase tickets until the last minute. So if we have to tell you about some awesome bands coming to Phoenix, we will.

Last year we had interviews with Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith of "Mallrats" fame. We are going to continue to stay on top of things like these as they come along.

Also, the arts and entertainment section will have a weekly features page that will come out on Tuesdays. The page will feature everything from dorm life to fun features on things like crotch ball. (See last year's crotch ball article at http://wc.arizona.edu). The section is going to be a fun break from the serious news stories in the paper and will be a lighthearted way to tell interesting stories about people and what they do.

Of course, there will always be the opinion section that I am filling right now where some of our reporters will be telling you their views on fashion, movies and music.

If you have an opinion about an article or want to disagree with one of the arts reporters, feel free to e--mail us with your feedback at catalyst@wildcat.arizona.edu. I am hoping we make at least one person mad this semester.
