Why Hollowell won: In her first collegiate action, she started three games for Arizona in the USF-Louisville Slugger Tournament. Two of those were shutouts including a one-hitter against Auburn. Over the weekend Hollowell pitched for 21 innings, striking out 33 ÷ walking only one and allowing only five hits. Hollowell begins her career with a 3-0 start and a 0.00 ERA.

Wildcat: What were you thinking during your first collegiate start?

Hollowell: I was trying not to think too much. I just wanted to have some fun.

Wildcat: Ever heard the name Jennie Finch?

Hollowell: Every day of my life.

Wildcat: Is it hard living in Finch's shadow?

Hollowell: It's really not that bad. There's lots of tension but it gives me something to work for.

Wildcat: What goals have you set for yourself this year?

Hollowell: I just want this team to win the National Championship.

Wildcat: Ever thrown a no-hitter?

Hollowell: Yeah.

Wildcat: Do you have any pre-game rituals, like sacrificing a live chicken?

Hollowell: No! I just have little ones that I keep to myself.

Wildcat: What's your favorite sports movie?

Hollowell: "For the Love of the Game," I just really like the story.

Wildcat: If you could bean one person while on the mound, who would it be?

Hollowell: (Laughs) I'm still new in this college thing, so no one.

Wildcat: What's your favorite candy?

Hollowell: It depends on my mood · probably Snickers.

Wildcat: What lengths would you go to get one?

Hollowell: Probably not very many · but if I was really hungry ·

Wildcat: When you were the No. 1 player in high school, did people give you free stuff, like a Hummer or old jerseys?

Hollowell: I wish! That would've been nice.

Wildcat: If you were the Bachelorette, who would make the finals?

Hollowell: Someone that could make me laugh.

Wildcat: It's a Friday night in Tucson and there's no softball game tomorrow ÷ what are you doing?

Hollowell: Sleeping!

Wildcat: You're from North California. Who will make the playoffs, Warriors or Sharks?

Hollowell: The Sharks.
