A quick and bloody guide to Tarantino movies

Quentin Tarantino might not be the most prolific director of all time, but his filmography is still pretty impressive. Tarantino, a video store clerk before he became a screenwriter and director, loves to reference other films in his work ÷ both his own and obscure '60s and '70s B-movies. Here's a short guide to his four major works

An homage to: 1970s Chinese martial arts flicks, low budget gore movies

Rumors and trivia: The movie was reportedly conceived during the making of "Pulp Fiction," when Quentin Tarantino told Uma Thurman that the tag line would someday be, "Uma Thurman will · Kill Bill." The Red Apple brand cigarettes in this film also make appearances in "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction." More than 450 gallons of fake blood were used to make "Kill Bill."

An homage to: Blaxploitation films

Rumors and trivia: Jackie Brown eats at Teriyaki Donut, the same place Marsellus Wallace eats at in "Pulp Fiction." The suit Jackie Brown buys during the film is the same suit worn by Uma Thurman's character in "Pulp Fiction."

An homage to: Film noir

Rumors and trivia: Vincent Vega, John Travolta's character, is the brother of Vic Vega, one of the characters in "Reservoir Dogs." The Big Kahuna burger, the burger Samuel L. Jackson eats during the movie, was also featured in "Reservoir Dogs" and "From Dusk Till Dawn," which Tarantino also wrote. The word "fuck" is used 271 times.

Rumors and trivia: A paramedic had to be kept on the set to make sure Tim Roth was losing a realistic amount of blood for someone who had been shot. The word "fuck" is used 252 times.
