A man who appeared to be jogging ran into a car Dec. 20 as it was leaving a parking lot on 540 N. Vine Ave., reports stated.

The driver said the man ran into the driver’s side of her vehicle, hitting the side window and damaging her side mirror.

The driver turned onto East Sixth Street and stopped her vehicle, reports stated.

The driver saw the man stand up and continue jogging, but lost sight of him when he turned north on North Highland Avenue.

The man was wearing white shorts and a red T-shirt, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

A man was arrested for criminal trespassing Dec. 19 after a custodian called police reporting suspicious activity in the Harvill building, 1103 E. Second St., reports stated.

After finding the door to Room 150 unsecured around 7:30 p.m., the custodian reported seeing a man inside who said he was looking for his cell phone.

The custodian told police it looked like the man had urinated in the trashcan.

Police responded to the call and found the door to Room 150 locked and the lights off, reports stated.

The officer turned on the lights and began searching the room for the suspect, reports stated.

While checking a cabinet located in the room, the officer found a man crouched inside holding something in his hands, reports stated.

The officer drew his weapon and instructed the man to exit the cabinet, reports stated.

The man laid down and put the shoulder bag he was holding on the floor, reports stated.

After being handcuffed, the man told police he needed to use the Internet because he was waiting for a friend to get online so they could discuss his transportation for a trip back East, reports stated.

The man told police he knew the doors to Room 150 did not always secure properly and that he had urinated in the trash can because he was afraid if he left he would be locked out.

The man said after the custodian came in he was afraid he would be asked to leave, so he hid in the cabinet.

The man was cited and released.

An employee reported several items missing from her desk in the BioSciences West building, 1041 E. Lowell St.

The employee’s keyboard, cordless phone, wireless mouse, and a set of $150 walkie-talkies and charger were stolen sometime between Dec. 16 and Dec. 19, reports stated.

A central processing unit, three more telephones and a 19-inch computer monitor were missing from nearby workstations, reports stated.

The employee also that the candy jar had been handled and all the candy had been eaten, reports stated.

Police found a pair of silver-colored sunglasses not belonging to anyone in the office, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

A black “boombox” stereo was stolen from the Gould-Simpson building, 1040 E. 4th St., sometime between Dec. 2 and Dec. 5, reports stated.

A $10 orange extension cord was also taken, reports stated.

Both items had been locked in the custodial closet.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

Two $300 flat-screen computer monitors were stolen from the Science-Engineering Library, 744 N. Highland Ave., sometime between Dec. 16 and Dec. 19, reports stated.

Student employees reported last seeing the monitors in Room 119 at 5 p.m. on Dec. 16.

When they returned at 1 p.m. on Dec. 19, the monitors were gone, reports stated.

The room is secured with a “cipher” lock, but police did not find any fingerprints on the keypad, reports stated.
