UA honors Pearl Harbor vets

photo

Veterans shed tears as 21 shots were fired into the air and the USS Arizona bell rang eight times yesterday in remembrance of the eight Arizona men who died aboard the ship when it was attacked at Pearl Harbor 63 years ago.

The 51st annual USS Arizona Memorial Service, organized by the Fleet Reserve Association and the UA, honored the 1,177 sailors and Marines who were killed on the USS Arizona during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. [Read article]

Vollyball: Deficit too much for volleyball at NCAAs

Cats end season with 2nd round loss to USD

After battling back to overcome a two-game deficit, the No. 21 Arizona volleyball team was unable to upset No. 9 San Diego Saturday in the second round of the NCAA tournament at the Torero's home, Jenny Craig Pavilion.

The game marks only the second time in 43 postseason contests that the Wildcats rallied after dropping the first two matches to force a fifth set. In 1985, Arizona defeated in-state rival Arizona State in five matches but could not repeat history in its loss to San Diego (30-28, 30-28, 25-30, 27-30, 15-13). [Read article]

To the naked eye, Ryan Michael Parker is just another student artist. But once you see his artwork, you'll realize he'll hold his own in the professional art world once he graduates from the UA next May.

Parker, a visual communications senior with a focus on illustration, really wants folks to come to his latest exhibit. He wants it so badly that he's turned himself into a walking billboard, wearing a mechanic's suit for weeks with a sticker nametag which reads, " HELLO, I'M: FROM THE COLLECTION AGENCY. NOW GET OFF MY COUCH." [ Read article]
