ÎExcellence' mergers don't stray far from January plan
Administrators are sticking with plans for seven program mergers that were proposed in January, according to an update released yesterday.
News of the administration's recommendation to merge the departments of German studies and Russian and Slavic studies came as a complete surprise to faculty members who thought they were in the clear.

Arizona looks for third straight win over ASU
The No. 1 Arizona softball team will try to show its rival, No. 12 ASU, that it's just as strong the third time around when it travels to Sun Devil territory tonight.
Arizona (10-1), the Pacific-10 Conference leader, jumped ahead of second place UCLA (8-3) by two games after it swept the Sun Devils in last weekend's two-game, in-state rivalry at UA's Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.
