· 2 dozen or more forest fires still rage in the western United States although the U.S. Forest Service declared Monday that the agency's firefighting budget has been exhausted, according to the Associated Press.
· 79 years was the age of Dr. Peter Safar when he died Sunday. According to a BBC Health article, Safar was the doctor credited with introducing the "kiss-of-life" technique, commonly known as CPR.
· 1 in every 12 young people have attended an anti-war protest according to an MTV survey by Peter D. Hart Research Associates. The story, published in The Nation, also stated that 53 percent of the respondents plan to vote in the 2004 presidential election.
