Entertainment, shuttles, free ice cream at Wildcat Welcome 2002
Students can get help moving in, get directions to class and be welcomed to the UA during the opening week celebration
Campus is set to come alive again this fall during Wildcat Welcome 2002 ÷ or more than a week of food, fun and fiestas planned to help UA freshman get acquainted with their new alma mater.
Need help lifting that suitcase?
University faculty, staff, administrators and student club leaders will be on hand Aug. 21 and Aug. 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide assistance to students moving into the halls. If some of those boxes are too heavy to carry, or if you need any other sort of moving assistance, flag down one of the people in the ćArizona Redä shirts.
Need Directions? Should you get lost mid-day on the first day of class, donāt worry. Volunteers will be situated at various locations across campus to provide directions, maps or answers to general questions. The volunteers will be out from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 21 to Aug. 23, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 24, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 26 and Aug. 27.

The first days of college will likely be among the most disorienting of your life. Here you are, in many cases hundreds or even thousands of miles from home, surrounded by a community of 50,000 busy students, staff and faculty. Very few of them know you ÷ and frankly, most of them donāt care about you.
Itās an intimidating feeling. Itās especially so the first time you walk alone along the Mall at lunchtime, as thousands of people race in thousands of different directions to get to classes, meetings, work, meals and the myriad other places busy university-folk need to go.
