UA awarded largest grant in school history to explore Mars further

In March 2001, UA scientists helped find water on Mars. In May 2008, they will help look for life.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced Monday that the University of Arizona was awarded a $325 million grant ÷ the largest grant in UA history ÷ to study water and organic molecules just beneath the surface of the planet. [Read article]

UA picked to finish last in Pac-10

The University of Arizona football team was picked to finish last in the Pacific 10 Conference by the west coast media last week at the conference's annual Media Day.

The Wildcats received 46 points, compared to USC's 227. The Trojans just edged out ASU, which received 224 points. [Read article]

When Friday night rolls around, some UA students park their cars in the lot along Speedway Boulevard and head to Dirtbag's, while a few others make their way to Bentley's House of Coffee and Tea, trading booze for lattes and dance music for tunes of a more acoustic bent.

Friday night is open mic night at Bentley's. Anyone can sign up for a 15-minute performance time slot.

Open mic nights across Tucson are providing a creative outlet for performers, as well as evenings of leisurely entertainment for those in attendance. [Read article]
